Common wisdom it seems believes that power corrupts. There are cases where this is true although it should not be believed blindly. There are those among us that use our gifts, talents and noteriety to do something selfless. Obviously we aren’t talking about Julia Roberts here.

I was surprised and yet inspired when I cam across a CNN Article about Jim Carey and his efforts to help Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma. She is an imprisoned human rights activist being held under house arrest. Jim Carey can be seen in the video below giving a brief, yet urgent message about her and how you can learn more about helping her cause.

It’s sad that only a small minority can take a break from their glamorous life to help others. All it takes is one selfless act. More information about Aung San Suu Kyi can be found at: http://www.uscampaignforburma.org/

I awoke this morning to find a headline that reads, “Comic book hero Captain America dies.”

Intrigued, I followed the link thinking maybe some man who dressed as Captain America to thrill children and instill morals in them during the 1950’s had died at the hearty age of 94 (which still would have been interesting in terms of foreshadowing). However, I was wrong.

“NEW YORK – Captain America has undertaken his last mission — at least for now. The venerable superhero is killed in the issue of his namesake comic that hit stands Wednesday, the Daily News reported.”

Why I continued reading, I really have no idea. I’m glad I did because I learned that Captain America was first created to boost patriotism during the second World War, as a “foe” for Adolf Hitler.

And now he’s been killed off of his own series. Perhaps the creators realized people don’t think America is cool anymore, resulting in a decrease in sales.

I’m actually a little scared, because when Captain America dies you know shit is really hitting the fan.

People are always concerned about making the right decisions in life? We doubt ourselves and when making a decision we want to be sure it’s the right one.

I just came across this clip of a younger and less famous Morgan Freeman on a cool game site performing as Easy Reader on the tv show The Electric Company. I agree with the game site’s author, I never pictured Morgan Freeman in this way. He’s always the quiet serious type. Does anyone even remember his lesser known acting credits?

I’m not making fun of Morgan Freeman, although this clip is comical. This clip simply shows that the path we start on isn’t any assurance of where we’re going and where we’ll end up. Life is what you make of it and as long as you take advantage of the opportunities available to you, you will probably live a happy life. Usually just making a decision is the right decision. If it happens to be the wrong one, you can change your mind and take a different course of action. I’ve been fortunate with where I’ve ended up so far. I hope my “luck” continues.

I’m sure a young Morgan Freeman took the opportunities made available to him, made some great connections, proved his talent and the rest is history. He’s gone on to win awards, great notoriety and respect in the industry and admiration from countless fans.

So why is making a decision so hard? Why do we feel that we have to be right all the time? What are we really afraid of? If Easy Reader can go on to winning an Academy Award what isn’t possible?

I consider myself an entrepreneur. Business is my passion. I went to a business school, read all the books one should read on business to be a successful and I am constantly analyzing those who I consider successful with the hope that I can learn from their success and ensure mine. I’m hungry for the knowledge of what it takes to succeed in life, and every once in a while I am surprised by a successful public figure and the decisions they make.

Donald Trump is no stranger to the limelight. He’s gone from a well known and respected businessman in real estate to a celebrity business and TV icon. I didn’t think it was such a big deal when he came out with the apprentice. Hell, he makes a lot of money from the show, so how can I blame him even if it is a bit cheesy. The Rosie O’Donnell thing wasn’t so bad even if it was a bit drawn. Frankly she annoys me too, so I can’t blame him. The extra media attention each received from the feud further solidfied their names in the minds of the American public. Now Mr. Trump is finding new fame with the WWE! This is too much. I can’t take him seriously. Donald Trump has officially jumped the shark! I’m done with all of his books and advice. Yeah he might be a billionaire, but he is certainly not who I aspire to be. Donald, you’re fired!

Maybe shaving his head if he loses isn’t such a bad thing. Everyone agrees that his hair is terrible. The networks are going to love this one, but I’m done with his antics.
